At Oklahoma, it triggered a public reckoning.
That is what made the Sooners’ stunning 10-5 collapse against Georgia in the SEC Tournament feel so jarring. It wasn’t merely the fact that Oklahoma lost. Great teams lose games. Even dynasties stumble occasionally.
It was how the Sooners lost.
This wasn’t a classic pitcher’s duel or a one-inning disaster that spiraled beyond repair. Oklahoma built a 5-0 lead by the second inning and then appeared to emotionally disintegrate in real time. Georgia scored 10 unanswered runs. Oklahoma’s offense vanished. The dugout lost its edge. The lineup abandoned discipline. The pitching staff unraveled under pressure.
And afterward, Patty Gasso didn’t sound angry nearly as much as she sounded alarmed.
