Milwaukee Brewers Call Up Damien Magnifico

Damien Magnifico will become the 71st former Oklahoma baseball player to reach the Big Leagues on Tuesday. The Brewers promoted the Magnifico for Tuesday’s game at Chicago to be a member of the bullpen.

Taken by the Brewers in the 5th round of the 2012 draft, Magnifico had been in the organization’s farm system, most recently with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. He’s got an 23-19 overall record in the minors with a 3.65 ERA and 268 total strikeouts.

This season Magnifico has produced a 3.18 ERA and 54 strikeouts over his 56.2 innings pitched. He’s replacing Michael Blazek, who has a forearm injury, as a middle reliever. He looks to possibly be the first player out of the pen for the Brewers.

Milwaukee currently in fourth place in the NL Central with a 52-64 record.
