Junior wide receiver Jeffery Mead has only caught six passes at the University of Oklahoma but we should most certainly expect that to change this fall. Mead has been a key part of OU’s offense through camp (which winds up today) and was one of the standouts in the Sooners second, and final scrimmage, on Thursday morning.
At 6-5/200 the Tulsa, Oklahoma native (Union High School) has the perfect frame for stretching the field vertically. His first two seasons at OU have been developmental while he sat behind a talented corps of upperclassmen. Now it’s Mead’s time to shine and the spring and fall have been spent preparing him to be one of the key targets for Baker Mayfield.
Mead was a 3-star recruit out of high school and ranked as the #7 football prospect in the state of Oklahoma. In addition to OU, he held scholarship offers from Arkansas, Clemson, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M.
Jeffery Mead wears jersey #15 for the Sooners.
