2016 Oklahoma Sooners Football Countdown To Kickoff | 11 Days!

11Days

Dede Westbrook was an early enrollee with the 2015 class. The JUCO transfer took advantage of the spring to earn a starting spot at receiver and went on to be named as the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year by the conference coaches. He started all thirteen games, for the Sooners, catching 46 passes for 743 yards and four touchdowns.

A transfer from Blinn Community College, where he was a NJCAA First-Team All-America honors, Westbrook was rated as a 4-star recruit by ESPN and Rivals and a 3-star by 247Sports. The 6-0/175 speedster from Cameron, Texas caught the eye of multiple universities resulting in him turning down offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech among others to come play for Oklahoma.

Westbrook will start the 2016 season as OU’s top returning receiver and the Sooners will no doubt try to capitalize on his speed to both stretch the field vertically and attack the edge by putting him in motion.
