Oklahoma’s 2017 recruiting class was already ranked #5 nationally by 247Sports and on Wednesday afternoon they received another boost with 4-star linebacker Jacob Phillips committing to play his college ball in Norman.

“Before I announce, I want to give a big thanks to God and give all the glory to Him because without Him I wouldn’t have any of this,” Phillips said, “and with all that being said, I’ll be furthering my education and football career at The University of Oklahoma.”

Phillips becomes Oklahoma’s 22 commitment for the 2017 class. The East Nashville Magnet, Tennessee product is the fifth linebacker in the class and and second in the last week, following K’Jakyre Daley’s commitment.

According to 247Sports, Phillips is the nation’s #8 prospect in the state of Tennessee, the nation’s #7 inside linebacker prospect, and the #219 overall prospect in the country. He becomes the third 4-star prospect at linebacker for the Sooners in the 2017 class.
