I don’t know if a short article can really put into perspective the season that Dede Westbrook just had at Oklahoma. 74 catches for 1465 yards and 16 TDs, but even that doesn’t tell the story.
Here he is stiff arming West Virginia linebacker Justin Arndt.
Westbrook’s crazy run didn’t start until the TCU game (which happened to coincide with him finally being healthy). He came into that game with only 17 receptions for 154 yards and ZERO TDs. He would go on to amass 1.311 yards and 16 receiving TDs (he also had a punt return) in 9 games. Even before being knocked out of Bedlam with in the second quarter he had 4 receptions for 111 yards and a TD.
Quite simply Dede Westbrook was the best player on the Sooners football team this season and was rewarded with the Biletnikoff Award tonight.
Was there any doubt?@DedeTHEGreat11 wins the @biletnikoffawrd as the nation's top receiver.

Westbrook is the first Sooner to win this prestigious award and that is saying something considering the Sooners have had Mark Clayton, Ryan Broyles, and Sterling Shepard come through Norman. I may be in the minority, but I believe he is the most talented WR to set foot in Norman throughout the Bob Stoops era.
