Oklahoma’s recruiting momentum continued to build on Saturday as Zacchaeus McKinney made his pledge to continue his football career in Norman. A 3-star prospect, per 247 Sports, McKinney is a 6-4/300 defensive tackle out of Weatherford, TX.

247 Sports has him tabbed as the 101st ranked prospect in the state of Texas and the nation’s 50th best defensive tackle prospect. Recruited by Calvin Thibodeaux, McKinney turned down offers from ten other programs to commit to the Sooners. Among those schools offering are conference opponents Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Texas.

McKinney becomes the 23rd member of Oklahoma 2017 recruiting class. He’s the first interior defensive lineman to commit in this class but Oklahoma is hoping to add at least one more to the class. Seven members of the class have already signed their letters of intent and enrolled for the spring semester, allowing them to participate in spring ball for the Sooners.

Oklahoma’s 2016 class is currently ranked 4th nationally by 247 Sports.
