On September 27th Thunder backup point guard Cameron Payne injured his foot in the Thunder’s annual pre-season Blue-White Scrimmage. A week later, it was determined that he had a slight fracture in his foot, and he would be re-evaluate in 6-8 weeks from that point. 12 weeks later, Payne has yet to return to the floor, but based on some social media interaction lately, it appears that his return is extremely close.
Cameron Payne posted this less than an hour ago on Twitter:
Jan 7th it's gone be Lit! 😍

Royce Young pointed out that the Thunder host the Denver Nuggets on January 7th, and that this could be an updated target return for Payne.
Thunder play at home against the Nuggets that night. So maybe a new update from Payne on his return? https://t.co/YkSitrhoNi

Cameron Payne then responded with this not-so-mysterious message:

Based on Payne’s response to Royce, we should expect to see him back on the court in a week. His preparations have ramped up over the last few weeks, so Thunder fans have patiently been anticipating word on his expected return, and while this is not exactly confirmation, it is safe to say that he will be back sooner than later.
The Thunder’s schedule is not friendly at all in January with 12 of 15 games being played on the road, and while it will likely take more than a couple of games for Cam to get back in the swing of things, his return will be welcomed with open arms.
