The Oklahoma Sooners have collected a second individual award, the most recent belonging to Brylie Ware. On Monday afternoon, the sophomore transfer was tabbed as the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for the first time of his career. Ware becomes the first Sooner to claim the title since Sheldon Neuse completed the feat in 2014.

Over the course of a five game span this past week, Ware hit a team high .562 on 16 plate appearances. With three multi-hit outings over the same span, the DH recorded seven runs to go alongside seven RBIs. The effort helped Oklahoma secure a 4-1 record over the week. Yet, it also pushed the former NJCAA Player of the Year’s average to .462 on the season — a team high.

Looking to continue the streak, Ware and the rest of the Sooners take on Georgia Tech at 3:00 PM on Tuesday. Taking the field, OU hopes to improve upon the 17-2 start. However, this team remains untested on road. Tuesday marks the beginning of a five game stay on the east coast. We should know much more about this team during that short stretch.
