The No. 3 running back in the class of 2018, T.J. Pledger has officially committed to play for the Oklahoma Sooners. With the announcement, Pledger becomes the fifth to verbally commit to play in Norman for Bob Stoops. This class continues to pick up big names early in the recruiting process.

According to Scout.com, the high school star said, “I built a great relationship with the coaching staff, that’s what put them over the top for me. I already visited once before and loved it so I knew what to expect. The offense, the RB tradition and my comfort level were all big reasons for committing. I won’t be taking any other visits, I’m totally shutting it down and I’m 100 percent Sooner.”
Standing at 5-8 and 200-pounds, the back has a few limitations on paper. However, it’s not what is on paper that produces results. Described as a patient runner with quickness in tight spaces, Pledger has a natural instinct and feel for the game. It’ll be interesting to see how the Oklahoma Sooners decide to use a top talent like Pledger possesses.
