A legacy in terms of talent on the football field has chosen to blaze his own path. Currently a junior in high school, Casey Thompson held numerous offers from around the country as a dual-threat quarterback. Despite the coaching turnover at the University of Texas, Thompson announced his decision to play for the Longhorns as a part of the 2018 Recruiting Class.
Hosting a bit of a press conference in the Southmoore gym, the prospect out of Moore, Oklahoma crossed Red River Rivalry lines. Refusing to follow in the footsteps of his father as well as his older brother, Thompson will journey to Austin for his collegiate career.
The move makes sense looking at the Texas Longhorns roster. A quick glance reveals two scholarshipped quarterbacks on the list. As things currently stand, Thompson could come in and compete for the starting job earlier rather than later. Graduating early and expected to enroll for the spring semester, all quarterbacks will be fairly new in the system Tom Herman brings to the table.
