2017 NFL Draft Prediction | DT Vincent Taylor

Oklahoma State fans got to watch Vincent Taylor grow from a contributor as a true freshman, to All-Conference Honorable Mention as a sophomore, to an All-Conference first team member in 2016 as a junior. It was a fun progression as Taylor became one of the most dominant defensive tackles in the Big 12.  It was a fun progression as he paced the Cowboys with with 13 tackles for loss and seven sacks, and tied for the FBS lead with four blocked kicks.

Strengths

He’s explosive out of his stance and get across the neutral zone quicker than his opponent. His strength allows him to get a good initial push and move blockers to the side. His arms are 34 and 3/8″ in length, which are assets in taking out passing lanes and deflecting passes in general.

Weakness

Has a high center of gravity, and narrow base, which causes him to be put off balance at times. Slows down considerably after initial burst and gets too tall in his pass rush which results in him getting moved out of the way.

Draft Prediction

Indianapolis Colts (5th Round) | New Colts general manager Chris Ballard has stated that he wants to build the fronts so look for Indy to take several offensive and defensive linemen, in multiple rounds, through the draft.
