Playing the opening fifteen minutes of action, rain quickly sent the Norman Regional into a delay. However, North Dakota State took and early 2-0 lead during those minutes. Refusing to cease, the downpour eventually pushed the game from Friday to Saturday. Retaking the field, the Oklahoma Sooners hoped to find new energy against NDSU.

Pushing the previous day out of mind, Oklahoma found a bit of success at the plate. With one out on the board, back-to-back singles from Nicole Mendes and Caliegh Clifton. Continuing the trend, Shay Knighten ripped another single up the middle to load the bases. Threatening to score, a fly out gave the Sooners one more opportunity in the bottom of the sixth to produce. Fortunately, Fale Aviu answered the call once again.

A single from Aviu sent Mendes and Clifton across the plate to even the score up a 2-2. Moving into the seventh, it was clear the game was headed to extra innings.

A fielding error allowed NDSU to safely bring a runner aboard. Methodically working at the plate, the Bison moved Montana DeCamp into scoring position in the ninth inning. All it would take was a single to regain the lead. Delivering, Tabby Heinz secured a RBI while the Bison enjoyed a 3-2 lead.

Unable to make anything happen in front of a home crowd, Oklahoma sat down in order taking a loss. They’ll look to avoid elimination while facing Arkansas.
