In the fifth annual Big 12/SEC Challenge, the Oklahoma Sooners have drawn a road contest. This upcoming season, Lon Kruger and the young crop of talent on the roster travel to Tuscaloosa. Facing the Alabama Crimson Tide, the game is set for January 27th, 2018.

As the two collide on the hardwood, the occasion will mark the eighth time these two programs have met. Currently Oklahoma boasts a 5-2 edge over the SEC foe. While OU may have won the 2013 meeting, however the two have not playing in Tuscaloosa since 2007. Entering this year, there should be a bit of excitement surrounding the pairing.

Heading into the 2017-28 season, both Alabama and OU round out the roster with top-twenty-five recruiting classes. The signings pulled the two programs inside the way-too-early rankings at No. 17 for the Crimson Tide and No. 23 for the Sooners. If things remain that way, it could easily be a featured game on ESPN. But, the tip times have yet to be announced.

“We look forward to another year of competing in this great mid-season event,” said Coach Kruger. “Coach Avery Johnson is building an impressive program at Alabama and his team will feature talented, young players. This road matchup is a good test for our team and provides us an opportunity to represent our league.”

In the Big 12/SEC Challenge, the Sooners own a 3-1 record and will look to improve upon the number just after the turn of the new year.
