The 2008 Oklahoma Sooners were a team chalked full of talent. The reached the BCS championship game with a 12-1 record and were winning games by an average score of 54-26.

Led by Heisman winning quarterback Sam Bradford Oklahoma’s offense was explosive and Gerald McCoy anchored a defense that was opportunistic. The 2008 team set the school record for touchdowns in a season with 99 in total. Of those scores, 96 of them came either on a rushing or pass play and three others came by way of special teams or defense.

Oklahoma’s touchdowns in 2008 also resulted in place kicker Jimmy Stephens attempting a school-record 99 extra point tries. He was true on 94 of them, which was also a school record.

Five players from OU’s 2008 team were selected in the the NFL Draft the next spring. Phil Loadholt was selected in the 2nd round, Juaquin Iglesias was drafted in the 3rd, Nic Harris and Duke Robinson were chosen in the 5th, and Manuel Johnson in the 7th.
