Four-Star offensive tackle Darrell Simpson has a towering frame at 6-7/335. With his frame comes the type of physical play that drew attention from around the country. Twenty one different schools offered Simpson a scholarship, ranging from east (Florida) to west (Oregon) and just about everyone in between (Arkansas, Auburn, Auburn, LSU, Michigan, and Ohio State). On Saturday the big man from Northwest High School, Justin, Texas became a big commitment for Oklahoma.

The Sooners won’t have a senior offensive tackle in 2017 but potential first-round NFL draft pick Orlando Brown leads a group of three juniors. Recruited by offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh, Simpson joins 5-star prospect Brey Walker and JUCO commit Tramonda Moore, Independence Community College, in OU’s 2018 recruiting class.

Simpson is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s 13th best offensive tackle prospect and the 37th best player from the state of Texas. His commitment announcement on Twitter was one of the most creative we’ve seen in a while.
