Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples predicted the Oklahoma State Cowboys as the Big 12 Conference representative in the College Football Playoff. However, the writer has now gone all in on O-State and Mason Rudolph.

At this current juncture, Oklahoma State possesses one on the nation’s better NFL Quarterback prospects in Rudolph. Of course, the signal caller will look toward AP Pre-Season All-American, James Washington to provide a majority of the production through the air. Add Justice Hill to the mix and the trio should lead a potent offense throughout the year. Yet, there are still some weaknesses which leads me to believe this — the Cowboys will only go as far as the defense can take them.

Regardless, Staples of SI not only placed O-State in the College Football Playoff, the writer has tabbed Rudolph as the Heisman Trophy winner. When asked why, Staples responded with the idea that “No quarterback in the country has more weapons at his disposal. Rudolph is going to put up video game numbers for a team that should be in contention for a playoff berth, and that should keep him at the top of the Heisman conversation all year.”

Riding the momentum, Staples also tabbed the Cowboys worthy of a National Championship appearance. While most “experts” are opting for the Alabama Crimson Tide as the eventual champion, only two teams have the opportunity to win it all. Apparently, Oklahoma State is one of them…
