Actively looking for a new General Manager, the L.A. Clippers reached out to Michael Winger late last week. Flash forward to today, Wednesday afternoon, and it appears as though a multi-year agreement has been reached according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Spending the past seven years with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Winger served as an assistant general manager. Working hand-in-hand with Sam Presti, the Clippers target quickly gained a reputation of respect amongst fellow NBA executives. Under the direction of Presti, several others have moved into larger roles with other organizations. Winger becomes the latest in that list.
As it’s being reported, Winger will report directly to Lawrence Frank, the new president of basketball operations for the Clippers. However, he’ll also have Trent Redden joining him during the transition. Redden has been hired as an assistant general manager after serving as an executive with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
