Never would we have thought that we would be where we are today. Four and a half years ago in January of 2013, Craig started a Twitter account so that he could live-tweet Thunder games and interact with other Thunder fans. About a year and a half later in November of 2014, he brought me (Zack) onto the scene, and while Craig still ran the show most of the time, I chipped in here and there when I could.
Another season later, in the fall of 2015, Craig and I started to get more serious and consistent with our coverage as we began to start thinking more longterm in terms of what we wanted to accomplish. By the end of the season, after a crushing Western Conference Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors, we decided that in the offseason we were going to make the jump from Twitter being our only platform to blogging as well. That’s when we teamed up with Heartland Sports to get the blog side of things going.
The writing started off slow during the offseason with the major highlight being the departure of Kevin Durant, but by the beginning of August 2016, we were primed and ready to go for an exciting season. For every single game but a few outliers, we offered pre-game previews, live-tweeting coverage, and post-game recaps. It was a rough year in a lot of ways, but at the same time, it was a special season for Thunder fans. Russell Westbrook and the guys played their hearts out, and the Brodie won the MVP, showing that he was more than just a sidekick.
Then during this last offseason, things got wild. The Paul George trade hit. Patrick Patterson and Raymond Felton signed a few days later. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, right as the preseason was about to begin, Carmelo Anthony was traded here from the Knicks. The enthusiasm built, and we were as excited as ever to kickoff what could likely end up being the most exciting season in Thunder history.
And now, here we are. After all these years, we’ve continuously worked hard to build a better source of coverage for Thunder fans, and we’re ready to take another step forward. In one week, the Thunder Guys will be going live with our very own weekly radio show called “Thunder Things with the Thunder Guys.” Every Tuesday from 5-6 PM, we will be live on Crossover Radio, as well as streaming on YouTube Live.
