Report: Joe Castiglione To Join College Football Playoff Selection Committee

Since the inception of the College Football Playoff, the Oklahoma Sooners have made two appearances. Yet, reports are now stating that a representive from the university will play a part in the CFP for the next three years. Why? Athletic Director Joe Castiglione has been selected to serve on the committee according to ESPN’s Heather Dinich.

With six members of the committee rotating off, new faces are set to join Castiglione as first year representatives. Serving a three year term, the Oklahoma Athletic Director is no stranger to the format. Most notably, Castiglione chaired the NCAA March Madness committee during the 2015-2016 season.

Castiglione replaces Kirby Hocutt, who chaired the committee in 2016-17, as the representative from the Big 12 Conference. In order to serve on the committee, one must possess experience as a coach, a student-athlete, an administrator, a journalist, or be a sitting athletic director. Expect the official announcement of all new members joining the CFP Committee to come in February.
