Spring football doesn’t start until Saturday for Oklahoma but Kyler Murray was all about making some headlines on Friday night. The top contender for OU’s vacant quarterback spot just so happens to be a pretty salty baseball player as well. Texas A&M Corpus Christi discovered that first hand when the redshirt sophomore sent the ball out to the berm in the bottom of the seventh for a grand slam home run that put the Sooners on top 11-7.
The Sooners and Islanders are playing a four-game series this weekend and if Friday night is any indicator of what’s to come then baseball fans could be in for a lot of fun. In addition to Murray’s grand slam, the first game also featured four ties and five lead changes.
While Murray may have stolen the moment, it was actually sophomore short stop Brandon Zaragoza who stole the show with a 3-for-4 performance from the producing two clutch RBI. He tied the game at 4-4 in the fouth inning and then knocked in the go ahead run in the seventh, before Murray iced it with the grand slam.
Oklahoma and Texas A&M Corpus Christi will play two games on Saturday with the first pitch in game one set for 1:00 PM.
