The Oklahoma Sooners continue to reel in prospects and interest from around the country. Looking to replace a few key components, the coaching staff may have found immediate help inside the defensive line rotation. On Sunday evening, graduate transfer Jay Hayes announced his commitment to the program.
Over the course of last year, Hayes started all thirteen games for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Announcing his intentions to transfer, the defensive lineman remained on the market for a mere nine days. The 6-4, 290-pound New York native becomes the sixth commitment of the weekend.
A member of the prospects taking official visits to Norman for the annual Spring Game, Hayes recorded 27 tackles last year in South Bend. In addition to the number of tackles, the defensive lineman tallied three and a half tackles for loss and one sack. Moving into a conference with high-powered offenses, fans look forward to seeing how the former 4-star recruit fits in.
