Bulldogs Flip Notre Dame Transfer Jay Hayes

Kirby Smart has beaten Oklahoma again! Just a few weeks after Notre Dame graduate transfer Jay Hayes committed to play his senior season for the Sooners Georgia has flipped him to play in Athens.

“I want to play in the SEC,” said Hayes to 247Sports. “Georgia, here I come.”

Ironically it was a trip to Georgia’s spring game that won the 6-4/285 Brooklyn native over to the Bulldogs, just 10 days after he committed at Oklahoma’s spring football weekend.

The loss is definitely a blow to OU’s 2019 recruiting class but the 11 recruits that the Sooners have on board currently has the Sooners ranked #1 by 247Sports.

Five of Oklahoma’s eleven commitments are on the defensive side of the ball, including linemen Derek Green and Kori Roberson. Both are 3-star recruits with Green playing the tackle position and Roberson at the end.

The Sooners did add EJ Ndoma-Ogar to their 2019 class on Wednesday to help boost their #1 ranking.
