It was a good weekend for Oklahoma State Baseball…strike that…It was a great weekend for Oklahoma State Baseball. Through Games One and Two of the Bedlam Baseball series the Cowboys had beaten the Sooners into submission by a combined score of 18-1. With the series victory already in hand, OSU went into Sunday’s game with a sweep on their mind.
Not only had Oklahoma not been swept in conference play this season, they hadn’t been swept in the Bedlam Series since 2007. That alone made it a tall task for the Cowboys, despite dominating the first two games.
An RBI sacrifice from Kyle Mendenhall scored Brady Lindsly in the top of the second to Oklahoma their first, and only, lead of the series but Oklahoma State came roaring back in the bottom half of the frame.
Trevor Boone hit an RBI double, off the left field wall, to score Christian Funk and tie the game at 1-1. Boone would then make his way around the bases to score two batters later and the Cowboys, leading 2-1, never looked back. Two more runs in the third and then five runs scattered through the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings made it a 9-2 final and the third comfortable win for the Cowboys over the weekend.
