The Oklahoma Sooners are just two wins away from qualifying for their twelfth Women’s College World Series. Once again it’ll be the S.E.C. standing in the way of the back-to-back national champs, as No. 13 seed Arkansas (42-15, 12-12 SEC) rolls into Norman.

The Sooners are making their ninth straight appearance in an NCAA Super Regional, and 12th overall, while the Razorbacks will play in their first ever Supers. The best-of-three series begins Friday at 4:00 p.m. CT at Marita Hynes Field. Saturday’s contest is scheduled for a noon CT first pitch, and if necessary, Sunday’s game will begin at noon CT. Friday’s game will air on ESPN2, and Saturday and Sunday’s contests are scheduled to be on ESPN.

Oklahoma has two of the best arms in the nation in seniors Paige Parker and Paige Lowary. Parker leads the Big 12 in pitching, with a 0.89 ERA. She sports a 28-2 record on the season and has fanned 179 batters this season.

Lowary is a flame thrower who is second in the Big 12 in pitching. She’s posted a 0.97 ERA on the year and has a 9-1 record, with seven saves, in 38 game appearances.

Should the Sooners need to go three deep at the pitcher position then Mariah Lopez is another strong arm. She actually ranks third in the Big 12 with a 1.49 ERA, and has a 14-0 record on the year.

Arkansas is going to come at Oklahoma with Mary Haff and Autumn Storms. Haff has struck out an eye-popping 246 batters on the year. She’s got a 29-6 record on the year and has a 1.35 ERA. She joins OU’s Jocelyn Alo as a finalist for the Freshman of the Year award.

Storms has been outstanding on the year as well. In 147.1 innings pitched she’s fanned 112 batters and has a 2.47 ER, with a 12-9 record.

From The Plate

The Sooners weren’t just the top pitching team in the Big 12, they were also the top hitting team with a .328 batting average. Sydney Romero and Jocelyn Alo lead a powerful lineup for Oklahoma. Typically the top two batters in the order, Romero has a batting average of .430 on the year and Alo is at .410.

Possessing home run power, Romero has an on base percentage of .493 and a slugging percentage of .721. Powered by 12 home runs, Romero has knocked in 61 RBI this season.

Alo is probably the top power hitter in the nation, and she hits for average as well. Oklahoma fabulous freshman has a slugging percentage of .955 and on base percentage of .544 this year. She’s crushed 26 home runs on the season and knocked in a Big 12 best 67 RBI.

Hannah McEwen has paced Arkansas in batting average and home runs this season. Hitting .341 on the year, McEwen has knocked in 56 RBI this season, aided by 12 home runs. She has an on base percentage of .412 and a slugging percentage of .588.

Autumn Buczek is second on the team with a .320 batting average. She’s knocked in 18 RBI and scored 30 runs in 2018, with an on base percentage of .360 and a .386 slugging percentage.
