Oakland Athletics Draft Oklahoma Quarterback 9th Overall

Oklahoma quarterback, and center fielder, Kyler Murray just cashed in big time. Thought to be a Top 40 pick, the Oakland Athletics picked him up with the 9th overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft. According to the 2018 MLB.com Murray is looking at a signing bonus north of $4.5 million dollars.

Last week Lincoln Riley said that he wasn’t worried about the MLB Draft and that he fully expected Murray to be in Norman for summer football workouts.

“I don’t really care a whole lot about what happens in the draft,” Riley said. “I’ve had good conversations with Kyler, his family and I fully expect him to be with us. I really don’t have any worries about it.”

Oklahoma fans are going to do their best to put faith in Riley’s words, but Oakland fans will most likely be putting their faith in the truck loads of dollars Murray is about to get. The understand that Riley and Murray had was based on him being picked early in the second round. Does being a Top 10 pick change that? We’ll soon find out.
