Oklahoma Sooners Recruiting | On Pace For Third Consecutive Top Ten Class

The Oklahoma Sooners have received four commitments since June 30th and show no signs of slowing down. Heading toward the ChampU BBQ event, the coaching staff expects the uptick in recruiting to continue.

Behind all the commitments, the Sooners have solidified themselves as the No. 3 recruiting class in the country behind Alabama and Texas A&M. Should the pace continue, OU will sign yet another top ten class. Assuming the needle on the meter stays steady, the occasion will mark the third consecutive year. For reference, the last time Oklahoma inked three consecutive top ten recruiting class happened between 2008-2010.

After the day quickly faded into night on Wednesday, Oklahoma received quite a bit of news. Following up great successes on the recruiting trail, the football program reined in another 4-star prospect. A defensive back out of Ft. Lauderdale, Jaden Davis verbally pledged his talents to the crimson and cream as a member of the 2019 class.

Davis joins fifteen others during this cycle to join forces in Norman. Ranked No. 24 at the position, the youngster held offers from various powerhouses including Clemson, Ohio State, Florida, and Texas. At 5-9, the DB showcased the ability to line up against taller receivers while refusing to shy away physically.

It’s clear that the Sooner staff continues to put a heavy priority on the defensive side of the ball. This comes after the struggles in 2018 and an exit during the semi-final of the College Football Playoff.
