AP Poll | Oklahoma Sooners No. 6 In Latest Poll

This past weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners’ high-scoring offense and defensive improvements were on display. Now preparing for the next challenge, the AP Poll expressed a bit of pleasure in the performance as OU moved up to No. 6 overall.

The poll position was certainly a gift from the Auburn Tigers who defeated the Washington Huskies in week one. While the team from the Pacific Northwest vacated the No. 6 spot, their opponent made a case for a top five ranking this early in the season. However, the media refused to shake up the rankings in a drastic way.

In total, three team from the Big 12 Conference remain inside the top ten. It’s a drop in representation after the Texas Longhorns failed to produce a road win. In week two, the competition begins to take a step up before conference play begins. We are still a long way out from the first College Football Playoff rankings at this point in time. But, it bodes well to be near the top.
