The product out of St. Louis, Missouri opted to take the junior college route after graduating high school. Landing at Butler Community College, Jones continued to impress attracting the attention of Texas, TCU, and Oregon in addition to Oklahoma. However, the Sooners may have had a hand up over the competition as Lincoln Riley’s staff made in-roads with the program in the past while recruiting Ben Powers and Quinn Mittermeier from the same location.
Through the first three games of the season, the defensive lineman has recorded three sacks. Clearly possessing a knack for rushing the passer, Jones could quickly become a commodity in the Big 12. The commitment from the sophomore marks the first from a 2019 junior college prospect for the Sooners. Once arriving on campus, Jones retains to years of eligibility.
