Storylines
Ruffin McNeill will make his debut as Oklahoma’s defensive coordinator following the firing on Mike Stoops. To say that the Sooners have struggled on the defensive side of the ball would be a massive understatement. OU is currently ranked 76th in scoring defense, 97th in total defense, and 125th in total defense. While the expectation certainly shouldn’t be for the defense to have suddenly corrected all of the problems, there will certainly be a lot of eyes on personnel and effort.
The Horned Frogs come into the game averaging 28.7 points per contest but have struggled in Big 12 play. In games against Texas (loss), Iowa State (win), and Texas Tech (loss), TCU is only averaging 14.6 points per game. That gives them an interesting match-up against the nation’s 5th ranked scoring offense.
