Oklahoma’s Ben Powers Named Outland Trophy Semifinalist

The eight semifinalists for the nation’s top college interior lineman, on offense or defense, have been announced and Oklahoma senior left guard Ben Powers made the cut.

A 6-4/313 native of Wichita, Kansas, Powers has started nine games for Oklahoma this season, helping to pave the way for the nation’s only team with at least 30 rushing touchdowns (31) and at least 30 passing TDs (33) this season. Powers has not allowed a sack this season and has allowed just one pressure while registering 59 knockdowns.

For his career, he has started 31 of the 34 games he has appeared in and has been a second-team All-Big 12 selection twice.

The eight semifinalists will be pared to three finalists next week and announced on Nov. 20. The recipient of the 73rd Outland Trophy will be announced during ESPN’s The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 6.
