The Oklahoma State Cowboys entered the Advocare Invitation riding a two game winning streak. Hoping to extend the number to three, the Memphis Tigers stood in the way. Preparing for the task, Mike Boynton’s squad found themselves in a close bout before turning the corner just before the close of the first half. Utilizing a 17-7 run, the Cowboys gained a bit of momentum and confidence while holding a 41-31 margin at the break.

Picking up where the program left off, O-State lead ballooned to twenty one on a Cameron McGriff three pointer with 11:28 remaining in regulation. Knocking down the shot on an assist from Lindy Waters III, OSU was clear in command of the contest. Refusing to look back, the Cowboys sank into a rhythm keeping their foot on the gas pedal. Walking away with a third consecutive victory, Oklahoma State moves into the winners bracket and Villanova awaits.

Stretching the floor once again, Thomas Dziagwa connected on 4-of-6 attempts from beyond the arc. Collecting a team high 14 points on the afternoon, the junior opened up the floor for other players to work. In the starting lineup alone, three others scored in double digits propelling the program to victory. However, two others off the bench also laid waste to the Memphis defense.

Providing a spark off the bench, Michael Weathers 80% shooting conversion rate wore down the defense. Drawing fouls, the guard remained perfect from the charity stripe lifting his numbers to a 13-point performance. A large reason why the program shot 57.1% from the floor, Weathers will be an integral part of the offense moving forward.

On the other end of the court, OSU held the Tigers 36.9% shooting. The gap in percentages alone allowed the Cowboys to pull away throughout the final thirty minutes of play. Of course there are a few things to work on before a the next pairing. But, this team continues to gel together. Expect them to test plenty of opponents in the future and upset a few others.
