After a strong showing in the first contest of the Advocare Invitational, the Oklahoma State Cowboys hoped for a repeat outing. Unfortunately for the program, a different scenario played out as OSU found themselves trailed for a majority of the game. Eventually suffering a 77-58 defeat at the hands of Villanova, Mike Boynton’s team must regroup as one more outing remains in the tournament.

On the afternoon, three point shooting clearly made the difference today. Firing numerous shots from beyond the arc, Villanova let forty attempts fly from the hands of shooters. Connecting on sixteen of those, the Wildcats quickly built an insurmountable lead. Leading their opponent in the dust, the program cruised into the championship game.
On the other side of the equation, the Cowboys protected the ball extremely well. Only coughing up ten turnovers over the course of forty minutes, OSU put up 54 shots in total. Unable to connect consistently as a team, an unlikely scorer led the charge. Setting up to spark the offense, Mike Cunningham recorded a team high 15 points. However, the effort simply fell short as only one other player scored in double digits.
Getting a day off, all the remaining games of the Advocare Invitational will be played on Sunday.
