Throughout the duration of the season, Lincoln Riley’s name continuously surfaced as a potential NFL coaching candidate. As an elite offensive mind, those rumors ran rampant when the possibly of being reunited with Baker Mayfield in Cleveland became a possibility. Regardless, the current Oklahoma Sooners’ head coach resisted and denied any desire to leave the collegiate ranks.
Moving to get ahead of the curve, the university extended an offer in the direction of Riley. Apparently liking the amended contract terms on the paper, the second year head coach of the Sooners agreed. However, the terms are subject to review and approval from the OU Board of Regents scheduled to convene later this month.

Securing back-to-back Big 12 Championships, grooming back-to-back Heisman winning quarterbacks, and directing back-to-back College Football Playoff teams stands on it’s own. Add to it the uptick in recruiting and the bright future of Riley remains clearly evident. The extension offer was simply a no brainer as Oklahoma chases an ever elusive eighth national championship.
As details of the contract and extension are released an update will be published. For now, Boomer!
