Coming off their seventh consecutive Big 12 championship and first ever undefeated run through conference play, the Oklahoma Sooners were picked by Big 12 coaches to finish first in the league once more in 2019.
For the third consecutive season every Big 12 coach not named Patty Gasso voted Oklahoma #1 in the preseason poll. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own program which means that Baylor’s first place vote game from Gasso.
Texas was voted #2 in the conference (29 points) and Baylor #3 (26 points). Oklahoma State (23 points), Texas Tech (15 points), Iowa State (12 points), and Kansas (6 points) round out the poll.
The Sooners return five All-Big 12 selections from the 2018 season. Shay Knighten, Sydney Romero and Jocelyn Alo were selected to the first team. Senior Caleigh Clifton was named to the second-team accolades last year, and infielder Eliyah Flores was named to the All-Freshman Team.
