On Monday morning, news began to circulate of a new name potentially entering the transfer portal. Reportedly starting the process on Saturday, defensive end Ron Tatum is expected to part ways with the Oklahoma Sooners. Although the Sooners brought in Alex Grinch as defensive coordinator, many thought Tatum remained primed to take on a much larger role as a second year player. Requiring impact players at the position to attain success in the Big 12 Conference, Tatum fit the mold. Looking at last year’s numbers, Oklahoma secured a mere 29 sacks through 14 contests which ranked fifth in the league. It’s a number that could use quite a bit of improvement moving forward.
Coming out of high school, Tatum narrowed the list of final destinations which included Texas, Alabama, Georgia, TCU, and Oklahoma. Now that the talent is once again up for grabs, it’s anyone’s guess as to where he’ll land.
