After claiming the Heisman Trophy and declaring for the NFL Draft, few have questioned the athleticism and abilities of Kyler Murray. The signal caller accounted for 5,362 total yards of offense with the Oklahoma Sooners as a junior. Leading to program to a second consecutive College Football Playoff despite a few inefficiencies on the defensive side of the ball, the dual-sport athlete received criticism for his size and dedication to the game of football.
Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray came in at 5-foot-10.1 and 207 pounds, source said. Big win for him.

Preparing for the measurements taken at the NFL Combine, Murray began to pack on a few pound. Standing 5’10.1″ the reigning Heisman winner tipped the scale at 207 lbs, the number is on par with several other successful quarterbacks at the time their respective combines. Attempting to break the bias towards shorter players at the position, Murray’s athleticism will be tested in the coming days.
For now, the NFL prospect has scorned baseball to focus solely on the game of football. This simple fact in addition to the measurement posted today bode well for Murray. Although the draft isn’t until April, the quarterback appears to be a first round lock with the potential of being picked No. 1 overall by the Arizona Cardinals.
It’s amazing how an inch or so never mattered so much.
Just because he’s got a slightly more difficult challenge as a result of his height doesn’t mean he can’t be successful. His athleticism is worth the risk of taking him in spite of any hesitancy over his size.
It’s looking more and more like this is going to happen.
