Oklahoma Sooners Football | Weekly Recruiting Recap 3.4.19

Rich DeCray

Continuing the recent effort to recruit defensive players from across the nation, the Oklahoma Sooners extended offers to three players over the course of the previous week. Attempting to address immediate needs with the 2020 class, the program must land a defensive tackle with experience. With Neville Gallimore set to graduate, the coaching staff has begun to scour the JUCO ranks for a replacement after losing Derek Green.

Perrion Winfrey | JUCO Defensive Tackle

That’s where Perrion Winfrey enters the equation. Currently enrolled at Iowa Western C.C., the defensive tackle possesses the experience and size that many programs are searching for at the moment. Experiencing a surge in recruiting efforts, Winfrey picked up six scholarship offers over the course of eight days. Scheduled to take numerous visits, it’s only a matter of  time before the DT makes a decision.

Jalen Kimber | Cornerback

From Arlington, it should come as no surprise that both the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns are attempting to sway Jalen Kimber. The 4-star cornerback clocked a 4.43 40-yard dash time in high school as a junior. Clearly a top notch athlete with the ability to cover receivers in one-on-one situations, this corner is a high priority for several coaching staffs.
