After suffering three consecutive losses, the Oklahoma State Cowboys entered the final week of the regular season hoping to end the season on a positive note. In Waco, the Baylor Bears awaited the challenger while on the verge of win number twenty. Initially falling behind 10-2, it appeared as though Mike Boynton’s team would once again go away quietly.
Racing back during the opening twenty minutes of play, Isaac Likekele scored four consecutive points to give the Cowboys their first lead of the night 22-21 with 5:23 remaining in the half. Continuing to battle for every possession, OSU made the most of the situation. Despite being down 35-31 at the break, this team showed signs of life.
In the second half, O-State found themselves in a similar situation after allowing the Bears to claim a growing margin. But once again, the team responded with a 7-0 run of their own, knotting the contest up at 49-49. Finally claiming the another lead, Likekele scored another easy layup as the freshman produced a game high 23 points.
From that point forward, Oklahoma State took charge of the game. Surrendering the lead just once during the final 8:51, the visitors shocked Bears fans. Securing a narrow 67-64 win, OSU moves to 11-19 on the year with one game remaining.
