For the second consecutive game Oklahoma’s pitching was spectacular, and for the third straight game the bats were hot.
Ben Abram improved his season record to 4-0 by pitching six solid innings in which he allowed just one run off three hits. A trio of pitches came in to pitch relief after Abram was lifted, including Aaron Brooks and Zack Matthews who didn’t allow a hit through the eighth and ninth innings.
The Sooners backed up their guys on the mound with another strong performance from the plate. After OU had scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, Diego Muniz came to the plate in the bottom of the third and sent the first pitch he saw out of the park. His three-run blast, over the left field wall, put Oklahoma up 5-0.
The Sooners would plate three runs again in the fourth and one in the seventh in route to a 9-1 victory. The nine runs would come off a total of thirteen hits.
Oklahoma (14-3) will host Missouri State this weekend for a three-game series.
