The second-ranked Oklahoma Sooners are certainly building momentum as they move towards conference play next week. Saturday’s 11-1 win over Illinois completed a 5-0 weekend at the LMU/CSUN Tournament.
Jocelyn Alo, Fale Aviu, and Caleigh Clifton all went yard as the Sooners piled up ten or more runs for the fifth consecutive game. All three of those ladies went 2-of-3 from the plate and combined to score 5 of Oklahoma’s 11 runs while knocking in 7 of the team’s 10 RBIs.
Giselle Juarez was stellar from the pitching circle once again in leading OU to their 12th run-rule victory of the season. Juarez tossed all six innings for the Sooners, striking out 12 batters and allowing just one run off three hits. Her season record now stands at 11-1.
Saturday’s win was the 15th consecutive for Oklahoma. The Sooners will be back in Norman on Wednesday, night to host North Texas, before traveling to Lubbock next weekend to open conference play against Texas Tech.
