The Sooners got off to a slow start Tuesday night but once they found their swing they blasted past Texas Southern. Tyler Hardman, Conor McKenna, and Brady Harlan all recorded a multi-hit game, with Harlan and McKenna combining to knock in four RBIs.
Oklahoma trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the fifth when Harlan singled to third base, scoring Hardman. That was the nudge OU needed to get their offense rolling. The Sooners plated three more runs in the sixth on their way to ten total runs scored through the final four innings.
Six Oklahoma batters recorded at least one RBI, and four record multiple RBIs, in the offensive onslaught. It’s the type of performance that OU needed from the plate after struggling in their last two conference series. The test now will be to see if they can carry that momentum into tomorrow and then on the road for their eleven-game trip.
From the mound freshman Ben Abram improved his season record to 6-0 after pitching the first six innings, allowing just one run off five hits and striking out four batters.
The Sooners and Tigers will play the finale of their two-game series Wednesday at 3:00 PM.
