Oklahoma Sooners Earn First 2021 Verbal Commitment

Rich DeCray

Over the course of the weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners generated a bit of an uptick in the recruiting efforts. Although the Spring Game centered around impressing members of the next cycle, the coaching staff certainly won’t complain with other commitments. Such is the case for Cody Jackson who became the first verbal pledge of the 2021 Recruiting Class for OU.

Despite possessing two years of eligibility on the high school level, Cody Jackson verbally committed to play at the University of Oklahoma. At 6’0 and 169-pounds, the receiver holds thirteen offers from around the country. Projecting well at the slot on the level, Jackson fills a future need for the Sooners as the program looks to build around Spencer Rattler for the foreseeable future.

Being on campus during the Spring Game for an unofficial visit, Jackson has held an offer from Lincoln Riley for quite some time now. While his commitment answers one set of eyes, there’s still one set out there. Could another pledge come through in the next 48 hours?
