Enrolling early at the University of Oklahoma, Starrland Baldwin stepped onto campus as a 4-star cornerback recruit. Hoping to compete for playing time as a true freshman, the Sooner faced a major hurdle. Suffering an injury during Fall Camp, the youngster underwent surgery in an attempt to repair a torn ACL. Pushed to the sidelines, Baldwin missed the entirety of the season earning himself a redshirt.
Despite the injury, Baldwin refused to take time off as the recovery process began immediately. Unable to participate in the 2019 Spring Game, the freshman continued to put in work. Fast forward to today and desire to return to the field has certainly paid off. Showcasing a bit of explosiveness as well as excellent footwork, Baldwin appears ready for his debut in Norman.
Labeling the opportunity as a #ComebackSzn, Baldwin adds depth and talent to an ailing defensive secondary. While the starting corners are expected to be Tre Norwood and Tre Brown, the new scheme values speed. With the fancy footwork, it would not be a surprise to see Baldwin cemented into the defense before the end of the year.
