Oklahoma Softball tied a school record by placing all eight of its nomineeson the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-Central Regional Team, the NFCA announced Thursday.
Seniors Falepolima Aviu, Caleigh Clifton and Sydney Romero, juniors Mariah Lopez and Giselle Juarez, sophomore Jocelyn Alo and freshman Grace Green were all selected for the All-Region First Team. Senior Shay Knighten was placed on the All-Region Second Team.
The seven first-team selections beats the previous Oklahoma record by two. The Sooners had previously placed five players on the first-team five different times (2005, ’07, ’15, ’16, ’17).With seven selections in 2019 OU had the most in the nation.

This marks the fifth time in six seasons that OU has had eight selections. The Sooners are just one of four teams to have eight All-Region selections this year, joining Florida State, James Madison and Washington.
The All-Region awards honor softball players from the Association’s 10 regions.The all-region teams were voted onby NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2019 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
