Oklahoma got exactly what they needed in the first game of Saturday’s double-header, and they got it in historic fashion. With thirteen runs, off fifteen hits, Friday’s 13-0 win was the largest margin of victory ever over the Longhorns and secured the series win for the Sooners.
Brylie Ware went 4-for-4 from the plate and the Sooners blasted four home runs in the win, including a three-run shot by Tyler Hardman. Ware, Brady Lindsly, and Conor McKenna joined Hardman in going yard.
From the mound, Levi Prater struck out seven Texas batters and allowed just three hits over 6.0 innings, in leading OU to its fifth shutout of the season.
Texas picked up their first win of the series in the nightcap, staving off an Oklahoma rally in a 6-4 win. Ware went yard again in a losing effort, finishing the day with seven hits and six runs scored.
The Big 12 Baseball Championship is next week at the Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. The bracket, including OU’s opponent and game time for Wednesday, will be announced after the conclusion of regular season on Sunday.
