Continuing to experience an uptick in recruiting on the defensive side of the ball, the Oklahoma Sooners made the cut for Tyler Baron. The 6-5 defensive end out of Knoxville, Tennessee released a list of candidates consisting of eleven different schools.
Displaying explosiveness off the line, Baron remains a disruptive player on the high school level. However, it’s the combination of instincts and athleticism that continues to excite coaches on the next level. Proving capable of driving pass protection back toward the quarterback, Baron possesses a high ceiling moving forward. Behind a pedigree of football that runs in the family, many project the 2020 prospect to remain in the state of Tennessee.
Although it may be a long shot, the Sooners desire to make a push for the likes of Baron during the recruiting cycle. With Alex Grinch at the helm, can OU make up some ground? For now, the defensive end remains a target to watch.
