Oklahoma senior infielders Caleigh Clifton and Sydney Romero as well as junior pitcher Giselle Juarez were all named First Team NFCA All-Americans on Wednesday. Senior outfielder Falepolima Aviu and sophomore outfielder Jocelyn Alo each earned Second Team recognition, and freshman utility player Grace Green was named to the Third Team.
In addition to setting a program record, Oklahoma’s six selections are the most in Division I softball this season. This marks the seventh time in the last eight seasons that OU has had at least three representatives on the NFCA’s All-America teams and the second consecutive year with three First Team selections.
Clifton is one of just seven unanimous First Team honorees. She’s enjoying a career season offensively with a .435 batting average, .457 on-base percentage and .853 slugging percentage.
For Clifton, Romero, Juarez and Alo this is the second time in their careers they have been named as an National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American. It’s the first time Aviu and Green have received the honor.
