Dontae Manning was just what the Sooners needed. The 4-star Kansas City (Raytown High School) cornerback was the 3rd-ranked overall prospect from the state of Missouri, and 12th-ranked corner prospect in the nation. It just so happens that Oklahoma wasn’t necessarily what Manning needed.
Manning was in attendance, with more than fifty thousand fans, for Oklahoma’s spring game, and then made his commitment the following Sunday. Less than three month later he’s needing to take a step back and refocus…with Oklahoma still one of his top options.
At 6-0/175, Manning had received eighteen scholarship offers, including Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Virginia Tech, at the time he committed to Oklahoma.
