The Big 12 Media Days are scheduled to begin on July 15th and five Oklahoma Sooners from multiple positions will be available for the event. However, a quarterback remains noticeably absent from this year’s list of attendees.
Last year, the same decision was made due to the quarterback competition still being ‘open’ between Kyler Murray and Austin Kendall. Yet, that explanation fails to offer a valid vantage point due this time around. This means the only plausible argument centers around Jalen Hurts being labeled as a ‘newcomer.’ One could argue the signal caller’s familiarity with the media surrounding the world of college football is reason enough to be including in the upcoming activities. Still, the coaching staff opted to leave Hurts behind.
Instead, the university included second time attendee and junior linebacker Kenneth Murray as the anchor of the group. Making the journey for the first time, senior receiver Nick Basquine and senior defensive tackle Neville Gallimore represent the outgoing class. Rounding out the five, junior receiver CeeDee Lamb and redshirt sophomore center Creed Humphrey will field questions from various media outlets.
